Exploring with Grandma Nettie and Grandpa Nettie

Aaron's parents came out to visit in June and we had a blast. I was able to, finally, be a tourist in my own state.

Seriously, Alaska is probably the most beautiful state.
We stopped at Bird's point on our way to Seward and looked around. We were able to see a brown bear...from afar (which is my favorite way).

Searching for more animals...
Grandpa Nettie...yes Grandpa Nettie! He was renamed this trip by Jackson who refused to call him Papa Mike but opted for Grandpa Nettie.
We stopped off at Alyeska and rode the tram up to the top of the mountain and ate. Lincoln, who is a perfect baby (yes I'm bragging but it's true. Ask him grandparents) loved the ride. Me on the other hand....
...I'm scared of heights. Can you see my death grip on the bar?
We are so high up...kids loved it though.

And of course we had a huge snowball fight up top in the warm weather.
Can't come to Alaska without throwing a snowball...even in June.
How come I always look like this in pictures?!
Cheese! It's amazing that they are all looking at the camera.
Went to the Wild Life Reserve. Crazy how close you can get to these huge bears.

Stopped by Portgage glacier and got a picture with an iceberg.

Mayor's Marathon

June 19, 2010 I ran my 1st half marathon. Some great friends encouraged me and together we trained for 10 weeks. It was so rewarding and challenging.
Within week 3 of training Terra said that we should set goals. Her goal was to finish it running and challenged Lindsay and I to do the same. We laughed at her!!! It's amazing that 7 weeks later it was more of a reality to run it than a dream. I had a somewhat set goal of 2 hours 10 minutes. I think that I could of made my goal if I hadn't made some rookie mistakes. 1) I didn't take care of a blister that came on a couple weeks prior. During the race I thought for sure it was bleeding because I was in horrible pain by mile 10. 2) We didn't train for huge hills and trails. That was huge in this race! There was about a 1.5 miles where it was on a trail. And it was muddy, and had pot holes and rocks. I was scared the whole time I was going to twist my ankle. 3) We planned to start at the very back of the marathon because we didn't want to get caught up in the foot race at the beginning and get tired. That was a huge mistake! It literally took us a couple of miles to weave through walker, strollers, and people who had a slower pace than us.
So happy to be finished.
Most supportive husband ever!!! He didn't complain (too much) with how much I would be gone running at nights. (We usually started our runs between 8-10 at night. It's light outside so why not.)
